Care for Carers Mindfulness Course Starts - Tuesday, 2nd June, 1.30 pm
A free online mindfulness course designed to help unpaid carers enhance emotional resilience and find increased peace of mind whist managing the physical and emotional day-to-day demands of caring for another person.
Being a carer can be very rewarding and fulfilling but sometimes when we are looking after someone, we may find that our life changes in all sorts of ways. We may feel that, bit by bit, we are losing control over our life because we are always being needed by someone else. We may find that constantly being on call as a carer affects our physical and emotional well-being with exhaustion and feelings of isolation, sadness, resentment and guilt.
The good news is that practicing mindfulness meditation can help reverse the negative impact of stress on the body, cultivate more compassion for ourselves and others, and even shrink the amygdala – the fear centre of the brain. Mindfulness is a great way to quieten the busy mind from time to time and help us manage stress. Mindfulness enables us to tap into our natural resilience. With mindfulness we learn to live in the present moment and examine what we are really thinking and feeling in each moment so that we can thrive through loving kindness and compassion.
Through learning to observe our emotions as they exists in the present moment, we can let go of needing to avoid our pain or get caught up in our stress, and we can then rediscover inner peace and joy for life.
This mindfulness course is free of charge to participants through funding provided by the Everyone Project
