The Benefits of Mindfulness in Education

Benefits of Mindfulness for school teachers.

Reams of documented research shows that stressed teachers make a detrimental impact on the stress levels of pupils and that the level of stress which a pupil experiences directly impacts their learning outcomes. School pupils learn better in a climate that is more emotionally positive. Studies have demonstrated a link between positive emotional classroom climates and academic achievement.

When teachers learn mindfulness, they not only reap personal benefits such as reduced stress and burnout but their schools do as well. In randomised controlled trials, teachers who learned mindfulness experienced:
  • Reduced stress and burnout
  • Greater efficacy in doing their jobs
  • More emotionally supportive classrooms
  • Better classroom organisation
  • Improved mental and emotional health.
  • Increased focus and attention span.
  • Improvement in workplace moral.

No two schools have the same culture or challenges. That's why our mindfulness courses are always designed, organised and embedded to suit each school.
To see best effects from the training over the medium and long-terms calls for a a design that works with the school teachers and their schedules.
We tailor our mindfulness courses to fit with wider school objectives and to sit well alongside pre-existing programmes.

Generally, we deliver mindfulness training courses to groups of up to 16 people meeting once a week for up to eight weeks, each session lasting between 90 minutes to two hours.

With experience in the private, public and educational sectors, Peer 2 Peer Mindfulness tutors are passionate about helping enable teachers and schools to be more successful and happier.

We provide handouts and audio resources to support our training courses, enabling your teachers to continue developing their well-being on a daily basis for the benefit of themselves and your school.
